Luigi De Bernardini

I’ve spent 25 years on the factory floor.

Not consulting from a distance. Not writing frameworks. Actually implementing MES and MOM systems in FMCG and Pharma plants — working through the integration challenges, the go-live failures, the organisational resistance, and the moments when it finally clicks.

In 1996 I founded Autoware in Vicenza, Italy. What started as a small system integrator became one of the most recognised names in manufacturing operations software in Europe and beyond. In 2025, Autoware joined the Coesia Group — a milestone that validated what we built, and freed me to speak more independently about what I’ve learned.

This blog is that independent voice.

I write about MES and MOM implementation — what the vendor slides never say. About digital transformation in FMCG and Pharma — what actually moves the needle on the shop floor. About emerging technology — where it’s genuinely useful today, and where it’s still a promise.

My readers are the IT and Operations leaders who have to make these programmes work. Not the people who commission the slides — the people who have to deliver on them.

If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
